INSTRUCTIONS GUIDE FOR FLOW WRAPPING

What is flow wrapping and how does it work?

After moving horizontally along a machine, the product is packaged with a protective film and sealed at both ends by horizontal flow wrapping machines. When you have your goods flow wrapped, you will end up with a bag that looks quite similar to the bag created by a Vertical Form Fill Seal service. It will resemble something like this in appearance: Flow wrapping is also referred to as horizontal bagging, pillow-pouch wrapping, fin-seal wrapping, and crimp-seal wrapping, among other variations.

Is flow wrapping appropriate for a certain sort of product?

Flow wrapping can be used to wrap any solid item that can be pushed along a horizontal belt or conveyor. A chocolate bar, a pack of biscuits, a box of tissues, a scratch card, or any other thing that needs to be placed into a bag that will ultimately be pushed is acceptable.

Small granular goods are not suitable for flow wrapping; instead, a vertical form fill seal is recommended for this type of product.

What will the appearance of the bag be?

Traditionally, a bag produced by flow wrapping is rectangular in shape, though square bags can also be produced using this technique. The bag can be printed, transparent, or a single colour, depending on your preference.

What are the advantages of using flow wrapping?

Flow wrapping can help you maintain your raw materials while also providing protection.

A good flow wrapping system constrains the packaging around the product, preventing it from moving around in the box and becoming disoriented. The amount of material used to seal the pack is also reduced to a bare minimum in order to prevent the tails from becoming excessively long.

As a result, the pack can be neatly packed into outer packaging, minimising the amount of resources required and making transportation easier..

Flow wrapping and gas flushing can be used in conjunction with each other. Through the use of gas flushing, you can extend the shelf life of your food by injecting a nitrogen mix inside the pack. This causes the oxygen in the bag to be displaced.

What kind of materials are being used?

The packing materials for a flow wrapper are the same as those for a vertical form fill seal. They are constructed of either:

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a thermoplastic polymer resin belonging to the polyester family that is commonly used in the production of containers for liquids and food.

Polyethylene (PE) is the most widely used plastic in the world today. It is used in a variety of applications, including plastic packaging.

Both of these forms of plastic are common. They are durable, long-lasting materials that help to keep things fresh.

What is the procedure for flow wrapping?

  • The goods is manually fed onto a conveyor belt by a conveyor operator.
  • The product is transported into the machine by a conveyor belt, where it is covered by a film that is tucked under and over the product.
  • Afterwards, it goes along the conveyor belt to the end sealer, where the film is crimped to seal it and sliced to separate the goods from one another.

What kind of quantity are you able to work with?

We often work with numbers ranging from 2,500 to 500,000 packs, while we may accommodate larger orders. If you require any additional information, please contact us so that we can discuss your requirements.

What is the time frame for the process?

Depending on the size of the package, we can pack 65-70 packages each minute.
