INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION OF THE HAND DRYER

A hand dryer is a convenient technical invention, which, moreover, allows its owner to save on hygiene products, which are consumed very quickly. And visitors to the institution receive additional comfort from its presence.

Today, hand dryers are presented in a large assortment. Most of the models are made using materials that have anti-vandal qualities: impact resistance and heat resistance. This expands their application.

Hand dryers differ in design, so you can choose a model that, in addition to performing its direct functions, would be in harmony with the interior of the room.

Types of hand dryers

Hand dryers work by consuming electricity. They plug into a conventional electrical outlet and usually do not require a separate ground. Hands are dried with a stream of warm air that evaporates water from their surface.

According to the method of inclusion, there are two types of electric dryers:

  • Mechanical;

Mechanical dryers

The most simple in design and affordable are contact electric towels. The device is turned on by pressing the button located on the case. Shutdown is implemented in different ways. Some models are turned off manually by pressing the key again. Other appliances are equipped with a timer that automatically turns off the dryer after a predetermined time interval.

Sensor dryers

The automatic electric dryer is activated using a built-in infrared sensor that reacts to the approach of hands. The device is turned off by an automatic timer, after a certain time interval. Some models are equipped with a programmable timer that allows you to set the operating time parameters. The cost of non-contact electric dryers is higher than contact devices.

Installation and connection of the hand dryer

The electric towel is usually installed on the wall in any convenient place in the washroom. Fastening is carried out using plastic dowels included in the product package. The dryer can be connected using an electrical outlet.

However, in public areas, the electric dryer is more often connected directly to the switchboard, through a separate circuit breaker. Installation of electrical wiring from the shield to the device is carried out using a plastic box.

General selection recommendations

We recommend choosing an electric dryer depending on the installation location and the required performance. We advise you to give preference to equipment of well-known brands.

Installing a hand dryer is a fairly simple process, with a few fundamental rules that must be followed. The first thing you need to start with is determining the type of drying, the installation of which you are going to perform. There are two varieties: vertical hand dryer , wall dryer.

Planning to install a vertical dryer? It has a wall mount that it can be attached to. But it is important to remember that in addition to this bar, it is recommended to mount the device to the wall with an additional bolt in order to insure the loss of the unit from the bathroom. Removing the device from the bar is very simple, therefore, each manufacturer strongly recommends attaching dryers like V-JET to the wall using an additional hole. For Nofer units, this hole is located at the bottom, you can see it by removing the water drain compartment. You can connect the dryer to open and hidden electrical wiring, but it is still recommended to avoid removing outlets and hide the electrical cable. This will not only reduce the risk of vandalism, but also protect against the risk of moisture getting on the electrical cable.

The installation height of such devices from the floor differs from the manufacturer, but the difference is not so significant. The average value will be 30-40 cm from the lower border of the apparatus to the floor. The distance from one dryer to another should be about 60-70 cm.

Mounting the wall dryer

Installing a wall-mounted hand dryer, like a submersible one, is quite simple. First you need to unplug the cable. Most dryers can be connected to open and hidden connections, but we still recommend that you install them on a hidden electrical network. The distance from the floor should be 1.4-1.6 m. This will allow absolutely everyone to use the device without any discomfort.

To connect such a device to the network, you will need to remove the cover (case), find an electrical board, there will be connectors for connecting an electrical cable. Connect the ground connection if the dryers have a similar function.

It is undesirable to install the dryer above the sink or near water sources. This can provoke unwanted activation if the device has an automatic sensor. The sensor can be adjusted for the sensing distance and set the operating time. But close installation to a flat surface (less than 40 cm) and drops of water that can fly near the dryer can frighten visitors to your establishment.

These were the main rules for installing an electric hand dryer . The conclusion suggests itself: there is nothing difficult in installing and installing dryers, anyone can handle it.

Types of electric hand dryers and installation rules

Hand dryers have been installed in public bathrooms for a long time. Since childhood, many people remember these bulky rumbling devices, which were scary to approach.

Modern dryers are distinguished by compact dimensions and low noise. They are installed in public toilets and bathrooms of enterprises for the convenience of visitors in order to save on paper towels, this is especially true for places with high traffic. It does not pay off immediately, but it removes a lot of problems: the purchase of towels, the need for their regular renewal, waste disposal.

Types of electric dryers

Conventionally, there are 3 types of dryers:

  • ordinary . Budget option, plastic case, power from 800 to 2000 watts. It is advisable to install in places with low traffic and a calm contingent: hospitals, shops, offices, small catering points (without serving strong drinks)
  • anti-vandal . Steel case (polished or painted), resistant to damage and powerful hidden fasteners that will not allow you to remove or tear off the device. More powerful than the previous version - 1500-2500 watts. It is installed in places with medium and high traffic and an active audience: nightclubs, discos, bars, educational institutions. For ease of use, they are often equipped with a swivel nozzle
  • high-speed . With a significant air flow rate, there is often no heating element, which reduces energy consumption, and also does not dry the skin with hot air. Recommended for high traffic establishments. They have a respectable appearance, so such a dryer will look advantageous in the bathroom of an office of a reputable company.

Installation rules

It is forbidden to install dryers in rooms with high humidity: showers, dressing rooms, directly near pools. The distance to the nearest water tap should be at least 60 cm, and in the case of a shower spray - 120 cm, the center of the washbasin should not be closer than 70 cm. If there is a possibility of condensation on the surface, installation on such a wall is strictly prohibited. The vertical distance from the dryer nozzle to the surface must be at least 110 cm, the ventilation openings of the apparatus must also not be blocked.

It is recommended to carry out power supply networks with hidden wiring with mandatory grounding and RCD protection (a special protective circuit breaker that reacts to the occurrence of a potential difference when a person is energized). It is desirable to connect directly, without an outlet. If you can’t do without it, you must install a waterproof type outlet.

During installation, you should pay attention to the recommendations given in the instructions, however, if the manufacturer indicates that the hand dryer should be installed at head level, you can ignore this wish and install the device in the right place, not forgetting the minimum 110 cm. This is the optimal distance, as times at the height of slightly raised hands.
