Now that Covid seems to be bidding a final goodbye to the world, wanderlust appears to be taking center stage again in our hearts.

More and more people are leaving their homes and venturing outside. The urge to take a well-needed vacation is becoming intensely strong and travel companies are wooing the travel-starved with offers galore.

The southernmost state of the US, Florida, is famous for many things, from beaches to theme parks and orange orchards to the yummy key lime pie!

Called the ‘Sunshine State’, this place is a mecca for racing enthusiasts. Its most famous beach – Daytona Beach – is called the ‘World’s Most Famous Beach’. And that sobriquet is not without reason.

This beach is very wide and comes packed with smooth, hard-packed sand, which made racing on it a very attractive option. It all started with high-speed automobile testing, which soon gave way to racing. 

And then came the Daytona International Speedway, built by Bill France, NASCAR founder. The Daytona 500 has been hosted here since 1959 and thousands of racing enthusiasts prefer to plan their vacations to Daytona Beach, FL around the racing dates.

Not just the beach, one can spend days altogether at markets and museums too. There is so much to do and enjoy here and most tourists are stumped just where to start from! 

What to do at Daytona Beach

You can have fun unlimited at Daytona Beach. If you are a waterparks lover, head over straight to Daytona Lagoon, a waterpark and family entertainment center. It has loads of water slides and thrill rides for water babies, while those who prefer to stay dry can enjoy the adrenaline-pumping adventures of Sky Maze.

Those who love enriching their knowledge bank can visit the Museum of Arts and Sciences. It is the biggest museum in the area and is loaded with enchanting displays and exhibitions. This favorite of kids and adults alike promises hours of unadulterated enjoyment to all visitors.

Once the visit to the museum is over, one can go to the Daytona Flea and Farmers’ Market to unwind and explore the treasure trove of souvenirs found here. Spread over a massive area of 30 acres, this complex houses over a thousand vendor booths. You can rest assured you will go back home staggering under the weight of the shopping you’ll end up doing here.

Last but certainly not least; you will end up spending many hours at the beach itself. Whether it is lazing under the sun or playing volleyball or just looking at the waves, you will feel completely removed from the hustle-bustle of life and find yourself in tune with nature and relaxation. The beauty of this place is such that the mere thought of going back home will fill you up with dread.
